Ukraine president backs call for talks with opposition; riot police deploy in Kiev

MOSCOW — Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych expressed support Monday for talks with the opposition on ending a series of massive protests in Kiev, as riot police began dismantling some of the protesters’ barricades and an opposition leader called on the demonstrators to stand their ground.
